Mac Reflects on France

And now a message from Mac: France is wonderful. Paris left me awestruck. I feel sorry for those who have diluted their sense of wonder and culture to the point of declaring Paris overrated. Walking the streets, taking in the grandeur of the architecture. Sipping incredible wine while participating in the vibrant Café Scene in Le Marias (my favorite district). Cheese, cheese and more cheese.  The only thing missing are the rude French waiters. Everyone has been extremely nice and helpful. I dare say this change has come from a concerted effort on both sides. People from the States are more conscious about avoiding the ‘Ugly American’ tendencies while the French are eager to shed their uppity stigmas. Oh, but look out the Chinese. Thank the lord for the Chinese. They make even the worst portly, loud American look downright charming. There is no better experience than watching annoyed and dismissive Parisian service works deal with the pushy and rude Chinese tourists. I could watch it for hours.

We have passed the last week biking through the French countryside. Breathing the musky air after glimmering spring showers. Stopping by Chateaus, finding market fresh milk, bread or wine. Dining out on whatever special the house chef is preparing that day.

I’m trying not to force some grand awaking from this trip while desperately wanting it to leave me forever changed. Thank you for keeping up with us on our journey. Our friends and family back home are not forgotten.

Wine, cheese fresh bread? Yum!!! Is that kefir Mac is holding?
It’s nice to hear you’re being treated so well. But, you bring out the best in people.
Maybe that change you’re looking for will be an Ah Ha! moment when you least expect it!

    • He’s actually holding a bottle of milk that we bought at a local farm. We watched them milk the cow and then put it in the bottle–it was still warm. Talk about fresh! I hope your writing is going well Cassie! Can’t wait to read more of your stuff when we get back.

  2. That’s my boy… supporting the dairy industry!
